Movie Star 04:31
I know just what they're gonna say, I listen to them everyday Yeah man I really know the kind Basking in your lack of glory, you never really had a story Just a vantage point impossible to find Everything in moderation leaves us all broke at the station Asking each other for a ride She begged me for just one more kiss but I knew that kiss was poisonous So I left her and her kisses there to die Crashed Into a star and became part of the movie Scorsese directs it and the villain is yours truly Love is a killer, a liar at best I got the guns pointed straight at your chest Confusion is what you love the most So sing your songs to the Holy Ghost And try to pay that man what you think he's owed If I had all the money in the world I'd still be singing to you my girl I'd just be doing it in better clothes Standing there you look so bright like a shooting star in broad daylight Smoking through your nose 'cause your daddy stole your mouth the wind, it must have forgotten to explain what it was that it brought to you When you woke up with your toes pointing South Crashed Into a star and became part of the movie Scorsese directs it and the villain is yours truly Love is a killer, a liar at best I got the guns pointed straight at your chest What are you gonna do now?

Dewpoint 08:08
It's too early to call it midnight, too late to be afternoon. It's too hot to put my coat on, but the blizzard's coming soon. I'm stuck in a space before the end, and I'm parked in place where I could spend my whole life. There ain't no way for the sun to see as it cries on the blades and leaves. With a meal for a buck nintey-nine 'round the bend there's no reason it should end. I'm tired of rags and aces, and my tells have all been told. I haven't seen a clock in ages, there's no choice left but to hold. I need this flop to make this trip down the parkway seem legit for one night. There ain't no way for the sun to see as it cries on the blades and leaves. With a meal for a buck nintey-nine 'round the bend there's no reason it should end. We're gonna do it all night, until the sunlight comes. And when we're alright, we're gonna do it again.

Chew 04:38
Poking in the pantry in the morning Dirty feet beneath that wrinkled skirt The sky is falling everywhere Or is that glitter in your hair? I know She looked at me as if she had a motive Hidden deep behind those troubled eyes Horizon pink and yellow flowing Who are we and where are we going? I think I took a little bit too much I think I it off more than I can chew Look at you She asked me if I'd like to take her sailing Seen the sun rise twice since last we slept It ain't no foolish point of pride I just don't want to leave her side just yet I think I took a little bit too much I think I it off more than I can chew Look at you

about

Rags and Aces is the second release in the Heavy Pets EP series. Following the success of Two Horses, the band returned to Power Station studios in South Florida to work on new music. This three-track release features one song penned by each of the band's principal songwriters, and covers the full spectrum of the Heavy Pets sound. "Movie Star" is a lyrically incisive indie-pop song, "Dewpoint" is a disco funk workout, and "Chew" is a hard rocking tale of indulgence.
